Pylon Audio Diamond 15MKII is the second generation of the Diamond Monitor 15, introducing enhancements known from other updated Diamond series speakers: an updated cabinet design, modernised drivers, and an improved crossover.

The custom woofer, manufactured by Norwegian company Seas, has been redesigned by our engineers. The changes are immediately noticeable: replacing the dust cap with a phase plug has improved the quality of mid-range tones and better utilised the potential of the vibrating system based on a lightweight, coated cellulose diaphragm and a 1-inch voice coil wound with aluminum-copper wire. The absence of a dust cap means there are no resonances caused by the air volume underneath it. The speaker also received an enhanced drive with a double magnet, providing even better dynamics and control of lower frequencies.

The high frequencies are handled by a new version of the iconic Scan-Speak tweeter, improved with a stronger neodymium magnet, reduced coil mass, and the elimination of ferrofluid. These changes have resulted in increased microdynamics and detail in the highest tones. The tweeter also received a new front made of black cellular rubber with increased durability, ensuring reduced wave reflections and an elegant appearance.

The crossover uses only linear components, such as air core inductors, polypropylene capacitors, and non-inductive resistors with 1% tolerance, ensuring high sound purity.

The Diamond Monitor 15 features a refreshed cabinet with a steeper front slope (7 degrees), improving the time-domain performance of the drivers. Visual changes also include vertical wood grain in the version finished with natural veneer. Inside the cabinet, we have used a new sound-dampening material along with the previously used natural sheep wool, damping all resonances and unwanted standing waves.

The Diamond Monitor 15 mkII is a set that, despite its compact size, can embarrass larger speakers in terms of low-frequency precision, midrange articulation, vocal naturalness, and the width and depth of the soundstage. It can be successfully used in small stereo setups as well as in home theatres as surround speakers.
