So it is finally here after that long wait, are you excited? In the UK there are many loyal aune customers and they were delighted by the news of a flagship aune headphone.
aune AR9000 is the new flagship from the brand who are on a roll in 2026, and it represents a significant move upmarket for the company. It is a premium open-back, 50 mm dynamic-driver headphone, officially positioned as Aune's flagship model.
What we really like about the AR9000 is the styling, we love that gun metal grey finish aune have gone for as we feel it gives them a real sporty look and attention to detail. We love that old school Ford Escort RS1600i look with that gun metal colour finish, and when you get to listen to the ar9000 you get just like that old RS1600i really top performance from these luxurious headphones.
Fit and comfort are supreme, these are headphone you can happily wear for hours on end, so luxurious is that fit and finish, so many times you come across headphones that may sound great, but oh boy, are they so uncomfortable to wear!! Not so with these aune bad boys, these really are pure comfort to wear.
Finally that sound, the best bit by far, a sound that once heard you never forget!! Bass that kicks butt, deep, smooth and punchy, down to hades it goes, with such impact and growl, love it, what a performance. The space and air in the high end is thrilling, so much detail, details and clues in the music you never noticed before, if you think the ar5000MKII sound good just you wait till you hear the ar9000, it's a whole new level.

These is thrilling to listen too, absolutely jaw dropping, they are pricey for sure, but oh my do they hit that target, your music will come to back life when you hear your favorite tunes through these!!
Aune AR9000 — The important stuff
The AR9000 uses a custom 50 mm dynamic driver with Aune's Omni-Stack Carbon Diaphragm (OSCD). aune says the diaphragm uses multiple layers of long-fibre carbon arranged at optimised angles, intended to provide high stiffness, low mass and better control of unwanted resonance.

That 28-ohm impedance is particularly useful because it means the AR9000 isn't inherently difficult to drive from a decent headphone amplifier.
The really interesting bit: the bass
One of the things that immediately caught my attention about the AR9000 is that aune isn't treating "open-back" as synonymous with lightweight bass.
The company has designed the driver for very substantial excursion, claiming up to 4 mm of linear travel. The objective is to produce deep, controlled sub-bass while retaining the openness normally associated with an open-back headphone.
And early listening impressions are encouraging.
What do the first impressions sound like?
Deep bass (how low can you go), excellent dynamics, high resolution, large soundstage, natural presentation.
aune isn't simply chasing an ultra-bright "detail monster."
The company's own description talks about reproducing the experience of a reference loudspeaker system, with particular emphasis on dynamics, spatial presentation and natural sound. You get there here, yay!
That makes sense when you look at the design.
The AR9000 incorporates what aune calls its Tilted Acoustic Matrix architecture, together with ventilated earpads and acoustic chambers intended to control the rear wave and improve spatial presentation.

The AR9000 isn't just a slightly improved AR5000. When you hear them side by side the differences are very clear and obvious.
The cable arrangement is excellent. Rather than giving you a single fixed termination, the AR9000 comes with an 8-core high-purity silver-plated OCC copper cable and modular terminations for:
3.5 mm → 6.3 mm → 4.4 mm balanced → XLR balanced
The AR9000 is essentially trying to take the big-speaker listening experience and put it around your head.
